Ballet - Ballet Technique is the foundational principles of body movement and form used in ballet. It is an important aspect of all dance genres and styles because ballet is the foundation of dance and puts great emphasis on the method and execution of movement. Kesha studied and teaches the Vaganova method, which fuses elements of traditional French style from the romantic era with the athleticism and virtuosity of Italian technique.
Lyrical/Contemporary – Lyrical dance is a style of dance created by merging ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance techniques. Lyrical dancing is performed to music with lyrics to inspire movements to express strong emotions the choreographer feels from the lyrics in the chosen song. Ballet technique is required to take lyrical dance as it has its basis in ballet, but other styles are mixed in for a unique fusion.
Hip-Hop/Jazz – Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States. Hip-hop is a very energetic form of dancing. It is unique in that it allows its dancers to perform with freedom of movement, adding in their own personalities.
Cheer Dance – Cheer dance is the DANCE part of cheerleading. It incorporates motions, jumps, and tricks performed in unison and varying formations done in a group. This class is perfect for cheerleaders to sharpen their dance skills and prepare for auditions and tryouts for college and professional dance and cheer teams.
Worship Dance – Worship dance is any kind of dance that is undertaken for the specific purpose of religious worship. Dancing before the Lord is not totally about technique. It’s about having the right attitude in your heart. It’s also about telling a story. The music, words and dance must be united in harmony. Dancing for the Lord is a very unique ministry. This class is for dancers of all ages who would like to worship through movement and musical expression.
